Exactly one year ago, on September 1st, 2013, I decided to start training on a regular basis. I posted a couple of intermediary reports since then, one after 3 months and another one as I made an attempt at adding running to my routine.
Let’s be clear: the running thing was a failure, I am still too heavy for that and it hurts too much, plus it’s really too intensive to do on a regular basis, and most important, I don’t enjoy it at all, making it very hard to put the extra effort in.
I couldn’t just drop it though, so I replaced that with bike rides, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday when the weather permits it, and that I have really been enjoying a lot!
My weight hasn’t moved that much since the last report, but that’s perfectly ok, as I am happy of the overall pace, and am also building some lean mass in the process.
Here’s my year of training by the numbers:
- I went to the gym 150 times, out on the bike 31 times, and 6 times for a 5k run, for a total of 187 sessions.
- My weight is now 118kg, down from 135kg, my target being 99kg one year from now.
- Body fat percentage is now 24%, down from 42% when I started.
A photo is worth a thousands words, so, what’s the value of an animated GIF?
