Morfternight

by Paolo Belcastro

👋 Hello Morftenighter!

Happy Wednesday! Thursday if you receive this in the last four time zones before the International Date Line.

In the early weeks of Morfternight, I mentioned that I was interested in understanding more precisely what web3 (w3b for short now) really means.

You might think I gave up, and I almost wish I had at times. But, the truth is that it is challenging to form an opinion, to appreciate the real potential and triage points of view and who expresses them, as it seems that everyone out there has an agenda.

On one side, from evangelists to fanbois, all the heavily invested people, and those who wish they were.
On the other side, detractors range from the disappointed (to have missed a hypothetical train) to activists heavily invested against crypto.

And that's without counting different blockchain supporters fighting each other.

Today I bring you three pairs of points of view in the forms of a Twitter beef, a debate, and a high-quality exchange that happened in recent days on web2.

That's at the end of this newsletter. So, for the time being, let's dive into our usual content.

Walk

Speaking of walking, I have been doing that less lately and taking fewer photos. It's hard to fit that along with my daily writing challenge, but eventually, I'll succeed. In the meantime, here's a photo of someone else walking.

I am progressing on the 🚢 Ship 30 for 30 journey. If you are curious, here are the atomic essays from the past seven days:

As promised, here are three pairs of points of view on web3. If you read any, choose based on the time and interest, but I recommend reading both sides of each pair.

That's it for today! You can find more of my stuff on paolo.blog, and if you think that someone you know could enjoy Morfternight, the newsletter to share, please forward it to them or send them this link to subscribe.

Cheers!
