Isn’t what we all want, to grow free towards more light and fresh air, like this tree?

Paolo is a modern nomad: after Italy, France, and Switzerland, he now lives in Vienna, Austria from where he works on Automattic's Jetpack and .blog products.
Passionate photographer, he also dedicates his free time to his family, cats, and hobbies.
Working remotely since 1994, managing distributed teams since 1998, he firmly believes that remote work is the key to peaceful coexistence for 10 billion humans.
Isn’t what we all want, to grow free towards more light and fresh air, like this tree?
At times you notice how the city is made of many layers, each one probably making sense when it was put there, but looking quite strange together.
I almost never pay attention to all those odd but banal boxes that are everywhere around the city. I wonder what’s inside. Do you think you can turn traffic lights red or green at will, or maybe change the tram needles, or dim the street light?
I am not a tree expert, but I think it’s an olive tree.
Behind it, the French Embassy.
I am not an embassy expert either, but the building has a flag…
What does one say? A swarm of scooters? A school of scooters? A herd? A flock?
Remember when we used to start calls with:
– Guess where I am calling you from?
I find something comforting in trams. Trains too. Something so heavy and fast, guided by two steel rails making it so predictable.
The weather of the past couple of days has given the arrival of spring quite a dramatic flair this year. I liked the contrast between the sharp edges of the building on the left, and the softness of the clouds.
Technically not a new photo, I took this one in 2018, but a new development, darker and a bit sharper compared to the original.
I was working on it to prepare a print, and realized I liked the new version better, so much I thought it was worth republishing.
