Half-Moon

Two years ago, I decided to only publish black and white photos for a while.

It’s still my preferred style, and I expect most of my photos will remain grayscale, but I decided to drop the artificial constraint.

There are enough forces in the world trying to limit our freedom that I don’t think I need to add extra arbitrary and self-imposed limits to my mind.

Sometimes I’ll like the color version of a photo better, and that’s what I’ll publish. Once in a while, like today, I’ll hesitate between the two and offer them to you for comparison.

For those black & white maximalists around here, I have a new Tumblr at monochrome.blog, where I only publish a limited collection of b&w photos.

What do you think? Which one of these two do you prefer?

  1. Usually I prefer colour but in this case I don’t think it adds anything.

  2. Honestly, I’m partial to black and white. There is a nostalgic feeling to B&W manipulation that doesn’t always come through with color. That being said I suppose I prefer B&W. However…color should not be dismissed. Sometimes we do something for so long we perfect the process. My vote is to explore your color photos and see what happens. I am a long time subscriber and I always look forward to seeing your work.
